Palm Beach’s Finest for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

In March, a friend invited me to be a part of the event committee for Palm Beach’s Finest Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fundraiser. It’s an annual fundraiser where influential men, women and partner teams from the Palm Beach area compete to be the “Finest” as determined by their fundraising efforts.

200 individuals, dressed in their best, joined us this past Friday evening for the gala. Thanks to the support of local businesses, we had a plethora of silent and live auction items to display. The breathtaking palm trees were donated by Magland Landscape Design and really helped transform the space!

Rustic Coral and Burlap Beach Wedding

I’ll can say is wow. Amy and Mike are the most caring, fun-loving and laid-back couple I have ever met, and it was my honor to be included in their wedding day plans. Three months prior to the wedding date tragedy struck the family as Amy’s oldest brother unexpectedly passed away. She was devastated and even contemplated postponing the date because it was just too much to handle. But with the support of family and friends, she made it to the wedding day. It was a beautiful fusion of family love and beachy fun on a cloudless day in April.

Some Fun Facts: Mike built the gorgeous bamboo alter that graced the ceremony site. He also built the uplights and lantern lights that illuminated the reception space. The craftsmanship was incredible. The morning of the wedding, Mike and his groomsmen dug holes in the sand and strung lights to make the day absolutely perfect.

Amy is a master negotiator (thanks to the University of Miami law school) and was able to convince Sailfish Marina to lend her their trolley to transport the bridal party to the ceremony site for free! She also made sure to add tons of personal, special touches throughout the day to reflect her and Mike’s personalities. My favorite was the yummy signature drink, “Love on the Beach.” Their rustic coral and burlap beach wedding is one that will stay with me forever.

Rustic Pink and Yellow Baby Shower

This past weekend I had the great honor of helping plan a rustic pink and yellow baby shower complete with adorable owls for my dear friend Erin. She and I have known each other since high school. After graduation, we grew apart due to time and distance like most high school friendships. However, once we both moved back to the West Palm Beach area our friendship was rekindled.

Erin owns Pilates of Palm Beach, a private pilates studio in Boynton Beach and I was one of her first clients. It’s been wonderful to watch her grow from solely offering in-home private sessions into owning one of the top studios in the region. Pilates of Palm Beach has even become the official teacher-training center for Power Pilates for the SouthEast region! There’s a group of students and students-turned-instructors, that become great friends with Erin and each other. So when it came time to throwing Erin a baby shower, the group turned to me to help create a great party.

This is a great example of how good a party can be with Costco food, Whole Foods flowers and some imagination!

I Said Yes!

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years and it was entirely long distance. After meeting at a wedding of a mutual friend, I knew he was worth the commitment. It hasn’t been easy. There have been many tearful goodbyes and dateless nights. But the good definitely outweighs the bad. Lots of virtual dates, flower deliveries and homemade gifts sent via USPS. It adds an element of romance every time we see each other. The romance factor was at its highest this past weekend when he surprised me with a visit. Little did I know he had planned a romantic nighttime wedding proposal!

I came home from a meeting exhausted and ready for bed, but as I pulled my car into the driveway my headlights flooded the front porch revealing a note on the door. Extremely confused, I jumped out of my car and noticed the lit candles spelling out “love” on the ground with a ring pop in the center of the “o.” The note was in my boyfriend’s handwriting asking me to come to the back of the house.

Still confused, instead of going through the house like a rational person would, I walked through the side garden in the dark. Trying not to trip over the plants I took my phone out to light the way.

As I rounded the corner to the backyard I was taken aback. The dock was lined with glowing paper lanterns and at the end of the dock stood my boyfriend. I tried to remain composed as I happily skipped across the dock into his arms.

He looked into my eyes, sweetly saying “I have a question to ask you.” Then he lowered himself to one knee and took out the most spectacular ring from his pocket. In that moment, my surprise was captured as he had arranged for my sister (a professional photographer) to be there to photograph. She had been hiding in the boat all along!

I exclaimed, “YES!” and we intertwined into the longest embrace of our lives. Click here to see the full slideshow.

So now the wedding planner is engaged! We’ve already set a date. Both our parents were married on March 8 and still happily married (what are the odds!). Plus, March 8 falls on a Saturday next year!!! I can’t think of a better way to start our journey as husband and wife than by sharing the date with our parents. Now I’ve got to start planning!
